Do you have a pain in your board?
You may have beautiful windows, lovely staircases, a gorgeous kitchen... but if you have the wrong foundation, your house will fall.
Whether your organization has an established board or is building a new one, it is vital for you — the CEO or Board Chair — to take the right steps to ensure effective and impactful board governance.
It’s a big job, which is why we created the Board Energizer.
We can help.
Many nonprofit boards struggle with dysfunction. Board members can waste a CEO's time. They can bring too many ideas to the table without understanding what it takes to get them done. Sometimes they don't follow through on commitments they've made, and struggle to engage in ways that actually help.
But, boards are made up of people just like we are. And if we can set up the right conditions for a board to thrive, we can develop the kind of board that not only governs properly but actually drives the mission forward.
Here's What Nonprofit CEOs and Board Chairs Have To Say...
“We have fully incorporated the board work we did with Thrive Impact and are cooking with gas with new programs, new fundraising initiatives, etc. They really catapulted us!"
Marchelle Sellers, CEO
Artists for Peace and Justice, NYC
"Thrive Impact has done a really good job of leading us to action."
Tina Clark, Board Chair
St. Charles Avenue Baptist Church Board of Trustees, New Orleans
"Sometimes I pause and glimpse into what things would be like today if we hadn’t hired THRIVE IMPACT and it’s not pretty. "
Nantz Rickard, CEO
DCTV, Washington D.C.
The Board Energizer is NOT for Everybody.
We’re picky about who we work with, and have a strict (but reasonable) set of criteria that need to be met in order for us to proceed:
Your nonprofit needs to bring REAL value to the world.
I’m not just talking about your nonprofit doing nice charitable things, but that you are striving to actually help people (or planet) and can show some sort of outcomes through your work. If you can do that and you want to make change...let's talk.
But, if you're in this because “being good” looks good - no offense, but this is not for you.
You MUST be an action taker. That means you're coachable, decisive, and resourceful.
If you like to "kick tires" or sign up for informational things and not follow through, this is NOT for you. Please be someone who doesn't mess around, and is serious about results.
You take extreme ownership over your nonprofit.
You’re not into blaming that one board member, or that bad leader on your team, or that corporate funder who just pulled their funding because of a “different direction”... You’re into taking ownership, problem-solving, and moving forward.
That's it — if you meet these requirements, we're good.
